Professional Sports in Graz

Hi,

Now its time to talk about professional sports in Graz. About sport clubs and famous sportstars from Graz.

A world champion which came from Graz was Jochen Rindt. He was world champion in the Formular 1 in 1970. He tied through an accident in a race. We also have an olympic champion. His name is Harald Winkler and he won the golden medal in the wintergames 1992 in the "four-man bob".

Graz has also professional sport clubs in basketball, icehockey, football (soccer) and so forth. I will write about a football club. The clubs name is SK Puntigamer Sturm Graz

The club was founded 1909, that means this year the celabrate 100 years SK Sturm Graz. The SK Sturm Graz is a two time winner of the Austrian championship and three time winner of the Austrian Cup. The biggest internatinonal success was to reach the quater finals in the Uefa Cup and of course the three time participation in the UEFA Champions League. In the Champions League the club reached to next round by beating really strong european teams like Glasgow Rangers, AC Monaco and Galatasary Istanbul. This was a really good time for the club. In this time Sturm Graz was the richest club in Austria. But than they fall. Because they made bad transfers and lost a lot of money. But now the club is becoming better again, with a really good young team. At the moment they are 4th in the Austrian Championship.

Thats it for today. See you soon!

Sports in Graz

Today i want to write about sports in Graz. In Graz there are many possibilities to make sport. Wether you go for a ride with the bike or you can just walk or run near the river Mur. Near the river Mur it is very nice because there are no cars and other vehicles. The only vehicles you will find are bikes. I can run many kilometers beside the Mur. From the north to the south of Graz you have more than 20 kilometers to run.  Another nice opportunity is to walk on the Schlossberg wether you take the stairs or you just walk up the street. Sometimes it is challenging but if you are on the top you will enjoy the great view over Graz. Or you can sit down at the bar and drink something. Very nice. Enjoy your ride in Graz

See you.

Nightlife

Hi...now lets talk about where you can go out at night

There are many different things you can do in Graz. First you can join the inner city of Graz. There you will find nice pubs like the Flann O'Brain or The Office Pub. The Office Pub is really cool, because every Tuesday there is a Pubquiz which is really tough. You play in teams and you can win a little money, but the real reason why you go there is because you will have a lot of fun with your friends. Another nice location in Graz is the "Bermuda Dreieck". There you will find some nice cocktailbars.

Of course there are many other locations where you can go. On Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays there are some events in different clubs. Nice events are Disco Brasil and Russian Style Disco in the Postgarage.

Or you can just visit a concert in Graz. Sometimes there are really nice concerts from artists like Bryan Adams, Rod Stewart and so. These events take place in the Grazer Stadthalle. But there are also smaller locations which are really nice. Like the Orpheum. Many artists will come there because of the flair of the Orpheum. A lot of austrian comedy stars visit the Orpheum, but also some international music stars.

Places to go

Hey,

Today i will write about the places you have to see in Graz. The first location is The Schlossberg.

The Schlossberg is 123 meters high and is located in the center of Graz. On the Schlossberg you will find the landmark of Graz "The Clock Tower". The Schlossberg is a really nice place. You can see all over the city and is a very nice location for a romantic walk. You can reach the Schlossberg wether with the Schlossberg-Train, another option you can take the stairs or you can just walk up to the top.

Another nice place is the Hauptplatz where you can also find the town hall of Graz. This is the seat of the mayor. Built in the Middle Ages as a trapezoidal market square, the Hauptplatz was the centre of public life. And it still is. All trams of Graz stop there. The big shopping streets lead to the square. And it is the meeting place if you want to go out at night.

A newer sight is the Mur island. It was a project for the cultural city of europe 2003. Now it is an attraction. It was build by the New Yorker artist Vito Acconci.

Also the Sporgasse is very nice. Sporgasse is like a picture book of art history. Therefore, it is not advisable to look only into the nice ground-floor boutiques. From Gothic window frames, Renaissance and Baroque buildings to historicists – all styles are represented

And you should also visit Schloss Eggenberg. Schloss Eggenberg was built in 1625. Today, Styria's most splendid palace is used for cultural events. And sometimes as setting for films.
